About BAS P/U in English

BAS P/U is an English e-learning course about construction work environment coordination in Sweden. The course corresponds to one day of training and is completed at your own pace. It provides a foundation for handling work environment matters from planning and design through construction.

The training focuses on three areas:

• Roles and responsibilities in the construction project.
• Preventive work during planning, design and construction.
• The work environment plan, prior notification and documentation.

BAS-P – planning and design

We cover the buildingwork environment coordinator’s tasks during planning and design (BAS P). You gain an understanding of how early decisions and coordination between designers can prevent risks.

BAS-U – construction phase

The course covers buildingwork environment coordination during construction (BAS U) and how the activities of different parties affect each other. You gain a foundation for recognising risks and understanding responsibilities on the construction site.

Work environment plan and documentation

We examine the role of the work environment plan and the supporting information needed in a project, including prior notification and documentation. You learn why plans need follow-up when the work changes.

What will you learn?

The aim is to provide basic knowledge of BAS-P and BAS-U, responsibilities in construction projects and preventive work environment measures. This helps you understand the issues and documentation that need to be addressed at each stage.

• Construction site layout and work environment risks.
• Swedish work environment rules for building and civil engineering work.
• The client’s responsibilities.
• Designers’ responsibilities and risk prevention.
• BAS-P tasks during planning and design.
• BAS-U tasks during construction.
• Contractors’ responsibilities and coordination on site.
• The work environment plan, prior notification and documentation.

Who is the course for?

The course is intended for BAS-P, BAS-U, managers, supervisors, safety representatives, construction clients and purchasers who need knowledge of construction work environments in Sweden and wish to study in English.

If you book training for others, this is an option for English-speaking colleagues who want to study at their own pace. Participants should have a good foundation in occupational health and safety.

BAS-P, BAS-U and AFS 2023:3

AFS 2023:3 contains rules on design and construction work environment coordination. The client must appoint suitable coordinators. Their training, competence and experience must suit the project’s size, complexity and level of risk.

A course certificate confirms that training has been completed. It does not automatically establish suitability for every construction project and does not replace an overall assessment of competence and experience.

Prerequisites

You should have completed BAM or equivalent training and have good knowledge of work environment management. For a broader foundation, see our BAM course in English via Teams.

Location, language and course format

Study remotely through e-learning in English, when it suits you. This is a self-study course. For scheduled training with an instructor, see BAS P/U in English via Teams, 2 days.

Equipment

You need a computer or another suitable device with an internet connection. Choose a quiet place where you can work with the course material.

Duration

The course corresponds to one day of training. You have 180 days from booking to complete it and decide how to distribute your study time.
